The one unexpected thing that has come with fall this year is the desire to walk more. With such fine weather upon us (minus the wind and rain some days) it’s really motivating me to get outdoors more and enjoy the weather before it’s gone. The other day ago I left my phone at home and took just my camera around the neighborhood to capture to real beauty of autumn in Tremont.
Another completely unexpected thing that’s happened this autumn? I’ve started to fall (pun intended…) in love with Tremont and I’m actually really going to miss living here. When I moved here in January it was rocky from the very first week. I’m pretty sure I wanted to leave before the boxes were even unpacked. Summer was rough too with so much crime happening which made me scared to even walk around, alone or not. But by the time late summer was upon us the crime had settled, I started taking short walks more, and visiting the local dining spots became a “thing.”
I’m STILL vying for 2015 to be the “best year ever” for me and Tremont has been the backdrop for that. 2016 will be a new chapter with a new setting though as V and I move (back) downtown. We only live 2.5 miles outside of downtown but I miss being there too much. I miss it’s busy sidewalks, the ability to walk just about anywhere, and the park on E9th. I miss sitting by the Fountain of Eternal Life and seeing movies at Tower City. Downtown has always, always, felt like home. I think it’s because my dad was a cop downtown his whole life and passed on that unique and special love for the city to me. And I’m so excited, elated, over-joyed, thrilled…to be going home.
Does anyone know what this little bird is or is from? I see variations ALL OVER Tremont…
