A while back I thought I had commented on dancing and all the crazy dances I’ve learned (on my own volition).
I started learning silly dances last year when I was in England. I had to literally lock myself in my room in the evenings to work on coding a website (which I’d never done solo before so it took quite a bit of learning). Since the sun goes down around 4:30p in the fall you spend the evening in darkness. Time kind of runs together at night and usually around 11 or midnight after 5 or 6 hours of sitting and coding I’d get up and just…move. Of course dinner and showering were in there somewhere as well but I spent the majority of the fall evenings that I wasn’t traveling, coding. Cue the silly dances. It broke up the task and let my brain know it wasn’t time to sleep yet.
So here’s a great list of dances I’ve learned in the last year starting with the most recent.
Gangnam Style- Oddly enough, I’ve only just learned of this song a few days ago listening to a podcast where the two priests just happened to mention it. But let’s be honest..sure the dance is fun..but the beat in that song is just rad.
Caramelldansen – Oh God. Am I admitting to this? It all started with a Sherlock GIF of them doing this ridiculous dance move. Flash forward 6 months to me randomly perusing the internet when I see a similar GIF (different characters) and the single word: Caramelldansen. To learn more, check out Know Your Meme. I’m not going to post the original video because you’ll probably judge me and think I’m some weird Asian kid who’s totally into Anime. For the record, I am Asian. Caramelldansen is Swedish. And I may or may not have been into anime at one point in my life but that time is not now. Below is video of someone else doing the dance though. It’s less embarrassing to watch when it’s a person and not a cartoon. Watch about a minute of it and that’s the gist of it!
Double Dream Hands – Don’t remember how I stumbled upon this video but it’s pure gold. This guy is a hoot! And to boot, he was on the Ellen show and did this dance with her crew! (The original video is here. The one below is the Ellen appearance).
Single Ladies – How could I NOT learn this dance?! (It took a while and I don’t remember much of it now but seriously….)
Dougie – The first dance I actively tried to learn (not counting the Macarena when I was a child). Not gonna lie, I can Dougie all day. It’s still my favourite dance!
